Hello Readers of Mike in New Hampshire.
This is Mike’s daughter, Jessica. This will be my first and only guest blog on my dad’s beloved blog.
Mike passed away yesterday April 10, 2010, from a heart attack. He was 51.
I know that there are some of you who visit here often, so I thought that instead of letting you wonder where he had gone and why he was not writing anymore, he would want me to let you all know.
In the past few months, I know that he worked really hard to put this blog together and to make it great. He loved New Hampshire and he loved History, so I am happy that he started this project to share these things with you.
Even if no one actually read this blog, I’m pretty sure that he wouldn’t care, because taking pictures, “marker hunting”, writing about them and compiling this all made his last several months full and fun.
Thank you for reading his blog, and let it serve as a small memorial to my dad. He was a great guy, and he will be very missed.
Darling Jessica. Heartbroken to learn of your loss. He was a shining light. May God rest his soul and keep him secure in your loving memories and in ours.
I am deeply saddened to hear this. Won’t you please consider finishing his project, so that we can publish his collection?
Your father was one of the kindest hearts I ever met. I’m very upset with myself that I didn’t make the time to get over and visit.
Love,
Dan Collins
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jessica,
Although we’d never met, your father was a fine man and his passing at such unexpectedly at a relatively young age is both sad and surprising.
May God rest his soul and keep him close, and may He grant you and your family members comfort and strength in your time of trial and grief.
Condolences,
Bob Reed
Any man that drew such kind words from Dan and Bob had to be a fine man, indeed. I’m so sorry to read of your father’s passing, Jessica.
God bless you and his loved ones, and thank you for such a lovely and thoughtful post.
Jessica, may God hold you, and all of your Dad’s family and friends, in the palm of His hand and grant you comfort. May God wrap His loving arms around you, Mike, and may you rest in His perpetual peace.
Jessica, please accept my condolences. I will certainly pray for him and for all who are grieving for him.
God bless you and your family, Jessica.
My sincerest condolences, Jessica. Thank you for posting and letting us know what happened.
Dear Jessica,
Sorry to hear about your dad! I only knew him through his comments on other blogs. He was always kind and reasoned in his replies to others—not a small feat on the internet. Please accept my condolences. Heaven awaits great souls like MikeNH. Consider Dan Collins’ request to complete your father’s project. New Hampshire is one of the most beautiful states in the Union.
Truly,
Frank D.
My condolences. He was far too young.
I am sorry.
I am so sorry for your loss. May the Good Lord keep you strong during this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and with your family.
Jessica,
I am sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved father. I am visiting here at the behest of fellow blogger Dan Collins who thought the world of your dad and his blog.
It is clear he loved what he was doing here and I promise to visit it again to get a “feel” for your father’s work.
Please know that this stranger extends her deepest sympathies to you and your family. My the Lord comfort you and bless you. We mourn with you.
Take care, Jessica.
Jessica…
Please except my condolences. I was so very happy when I discovered this site via Dan Collins and found another history buff. I especially enjoyed it because my wife and I are planning to move to New Hampshire in a few years and I’m trying to bone-up on it’s history. Please do consider Dan’s suggestion.
God bless,
Bob Belvedere
Jessica, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one is hard and made even harder when they are still so young.
I have only recently discovered this blog so I am stunned and saddened. God bless and keep you and your family at this time.

If there is ANYTHING we can do to assist, please let us know.

I am so shocked. I never knew Mike in real life, but I too am a fellow NH blogger and always looked forward to what he had to share about NH history.
I am deeply saddened to have learned of your loss.
My sincere condolences,
Virginia
Hello Dan and Bob,
Thank you for reading this. I would love to take up his project, there is so much to look through, hopefully, I can find some posts that he was working on and a plan of where he was going to go next.
In other news, I found a great photo of my dad yesterday when i was going through old pictures from about 12 years ago, standing next to a marker at the Mount Washington Hotel. I will scan it and post it here later today.
Again, thank you for taking the time to write to me!
Jessica, I am very sorry for your loss. My condolences.
